Master Planning
Create a process that empowers your organization to succeed
Every hospital and department has an onboarding process for new colleagues. Turnover is not only a major cost to organizations but also a threat to the ability to deliver quality patient care. NTS offers a comprehensive review and process improvement of the orientation process. The objectives of a Master Plan is to empower the client to establish an Orientation Process that can lead to decreased turnover, decreased cost, colleagues who deliver better care and see greater career potential, and improved culture.
Master Planning Process:
A master plan is not just a fancy binder to sit on a shelf but should represent a process improvement. NTS can not only produce a document but also work with your team to implement and help scale the abilities of each member. Each project is unique and is mounted to meet the established objectives.
Assessment and Analysis
- Gather information about the hospital's current nursing services, staffing levels, patient demographics, and care delivery models.
- Analyze data to identify strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats related to nursing operations.
Stakeholder Engagement
Collaborate with nursing leadership, administrators, clinical staff, and other relevant stakeholders to understand their perspectives, needs, and priorities.
Goal Setting
Define clear and measurable goals for nursing services that align with the hospital's overall strategic objectives.
Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to track progress and measure the success of the master plan.
Strategic Planning
Develop a strategic roadmap outlining the steps needed to achieve the established goals. The roadmap includes strategies to address identified weaknesses and capitalize on strengths, including enhancing nurse education, preceptor training, implementing evidence-based practices, and monitoring performance.
Staff Training and Development
Develop training programs to equip nursing staff with the skills and knowledge to excel and contribute to the plan's success. This includes the training plan for new nurses and their preceptors. A well-trained preceptor will be prepared to guide the new nurse, handle challenging conversations, and help the nurse be trained for independent practice.
Performance Monitoring and Evaluation
Collect feedback from nursing staff, providers, and other stakeholders to assess the effectiveness of the initiatives and make necessary adjustments.
Empower preceptors and leaders to monitor the progress of individual learners and the effectiveness of their program via the web application Emergency Department Learning Center.
Continuous Improvement
Empower your team to continuously evaluate the plan's outcomes and delivery of established KPIs.
Adapt the plan as needed to address evolving patient needs, regulatory changes, and advancements in healthcare practices.
Communication and Transparency
NTS will maintain open communication with all stakeholders to ensure alignment and transparency throughout the master planning process.
Once implemented, NTS will empower your team with tools to monitor return on investment (ROI) to look for future opportunities and strategies to make continuous improvements.
Developed by Clinical Staff
A master plan project is a significant undertaking. Each NTS Partner would participate in sharing their area of expertise and collaborating to help improve your orientation process.
