The Daily Preceptor Evaluation is typically accessed via an invitation sent directly to the Learner who has worked with the Preceptor. The intent is to collect feedback regarding the shift immediately following. The items being evaluated are the same each time.
To complete the evaluation, simply answer each item. Utilize the rubric to guide the answers. Click submit when the evaluation is complete.
Several factors may impact the scores, including the Learner's adherence to the rubric, the care that was provided during the shift, and the conditions of the department. This feedback is helpful, especially in identifying the elements of support that an individual Learner finds most valuable. One Learner may score the same Preceptor lower on an item than another Learner such as Availability because they find it more important to know exactly where to find their preceptor. A single low score does not represent a preceptor who did a bad job, but feedback needs to be shared so they can modify their approach.
Over time should there be consistent feedback that shows an individual preceptor is not contributing to helping the Learner make progress, the educator must consider changing their preceptor plan. Again this may only represent a personality clash and not necessarily a problem with either the Learner or the Preceptor.
